This Is the House That C&L Fixed

by Curtis Blais (with a little help from Copilot)

This is the view, now open and wide,

Where the wall once stood, side by side.

This is the cherry, rich and red,

That once lay quiet beneath our tread,

Now stacked in the garage with pride,

Beside the view, now open and wide.

This is the oak, once golden and grand,

Now rescued by C&L’s careful hand,

Though half was just plywood and pressboard inside,

A disappointing truth we couldn’t hide,

Next to the cherry, stacked with pride,

Beside the view, now open and wide.

These are the brad nails, tiny and sly,

That clung to the cabinets, oh my oh my!

It took forever to pull them free,

A test of patience and tenacity,

From oak and cherry, salvaged with pride,

Beside the view, now open and wide.

This is the shelf in the bathroom nook,

Now serving meals that we barely cook,

A pseudo-kitchen, makeshift and neat,

Where shampoo once lived, now we prep to eat.

This is the fridge in the basement lair,

Now our main fridge, humming down there,

And all the sundries, stacked galore,

Live in a corner we’ve dubbed “The Store.”

This is the deck, our outdoor prep zone,

With toaster oven and meals full-blown,

A culinary feat beneath the sky,

While the real kitchen says goodbye.

This is the bin on the driveway wide,

Where porcelain dreams go to die outside,

Next week the tiles will meet their fate,

Demo continues—renovate!

And this is the feeling, surreal and strange,

Like months have passed in a time exchange,

But it’s only been days since the work began,

In the house that C&L fixed by plan.
